Rant 001 (better late than never): Texting

Cellular phones have become a widespread technological marvel. No longer fixed to one spot or to pay phone, mankind can traverse the world and still communicate (provided he can have access to a signal).  The modern day cell phone is no longer limited to just calls, it can: play music, stream live video, send emails and presentations, track packages and make purchases. Yet, with many great inventions, there is always a feature that starts off good and ends with dire consequences. Which leads to the topic of this rant: Texting. I get the point of it. I understand its meaning and necessities. Yet, I just don’t get the reason why it is so popular to do. I find it tedious. I never have been in a urgent situation where the person I was trying to contact couldn’t be reach by phone. Another thing I don’t get is that whenever anyone texts you something it is either: A) not important or B) something that someone should tell you face to face. I can’t tell you the times when a girl broke up with me through a text. It is the coldest thing a person can do to you. Plus, it really sucks when you don’t have a texting plan. Great, now my heart is broken and I’m out 89 cents. Plus, you also get those lovely forwarding messages. The thing you set your spam blocker to get rid of is not on your cell phone. If I see one smiley face pop up on my phone again, I may just take a human life. I instruct all my friends to not text me. If they have anything important to say, please call me. Now that we got the frivolous side of texting out of the way, let’s get into the dangerous side. There is a new thing out there call “texting while driving”. It has become an epidemic.  In one study texting while driving is as dangerous as drunk driving. As dangerous as drunk driving? That’s crazy. If you have to text while driving, you need to figure out your time better. Texting has evolved from feature to a pastime. I remember my grandmother’s birthday and nearly all of younger cousins face deep in tiny screens, thumbs quickly typing. I fear this is our fate. A generation of screen watchers are now in control. If you are riding with someone who is texting while driving, smack the phone out of their hands. You not only save them but yourselves.

Welcome To My Ranting Zone

This is just one of hundreds of blogs I have written from the four corners of the Internet. I am using this as therapy to get out all those bad feelings that I keep tucked inside. To express myself to the masses and lift this burden that I have pressed on my chest. If any of you read this (or ever) you can drop comments about my posts. Please let them be actual comments and not spam (I hate spammers!!!!). So please sit back, fold your tray tables to their default positions and enjoy the ranting and raving.
